I figured out how to save pictures! This may be good news to those of you who want to keep a local collection.  It’s 1 step removed, no way for me to automate it yet, but at least its something.  The problem is the code. when you right click a picture and open it in a new window, you get the image, and you get this URL ( or something like it)

what this is doing is running the picture through the timthumb thingy to make a gallery thumb, and also to make the images unsavable.  stupid. however, if you notice in the URL, there’s a src= http://faustie.com/blahblahblah.jpg. If you copy and paste just that part of the link into a new window, it opens up and is save-able! (so like: http://faustie.com/wp-content/uploads/2011/12/pyrrahcolor-copy.jpg)  notice also that this does not include the “&w=940&zc=1″ that the first link had.  I think this is some PHP ID tag for the image via the gallery.

So to recap, everything after src=, and generally stop when it says .jpg.  If you copy everything after src and just hope it works well, it won’t because again, stupid.  But at least there’s a system!  I just happened to figure this out while looking at the links. Thought I’d pass it along. ^_^

there was something else i was going to mention, but now I cannot remember it.  It was probably about the contest. 3 more days!

But this allows me to bring up some things about the game that i really do enjoy, in the hopes that maybe if I made you go ‘Hmm’ about it before, you’ll possibly reconsider.

First off, i stand by my dislike of the very tiny story. But the normal combat has legs. The characters are fast and the fighting is furious ( it’s just the 2 main characters that move like they’re fighting in a jar of jam) I enjoy the character creation options, tho I hope there are a few fancy faces to unlock that are not human.  the ladies are sexy, which is a-ok, and if you like sexy guys, I’ll have to mention I was able to create an obscene astaroth clone with an enormous penis made of an upside down heart, a bolt, and an apple.  not exactly sexy as much as terrifying, but you get the idea.  I dunno. I just didn’t want to piss all over it and then go play it and have fun. that didn’t seem right.

The Caption Contest is almost over!  If you have not submitted anything yet, ( or have not heard about it yet) click here for the rules and take a stab at it!  The response has been really heart warming, and the entries have made me laugh out loud every morning. ^_^ This is not going to be an easy task to judge, but in my book you’re all winners anyway.

I’ve gotten a number of commission inquiries lately, and I really cannot wait to delve into them.  I just need to survive this week, and get a feel for how much work-work I have ahead of me before I can commit to taking some, but I am definitely eager to get back in the saddle with that, and I appreciate all the interest!

okay, I’ll head out for this evening then.  I’ll likely be quiet until after wednesday, but if all goes well, a much more productive Faustie will emerge. ^_^

First off, here’s a lovely conclusion to the Regurgitator saga, with the sorceress nestled tightly against some foul tentacled-tumor inside the belly of the beast. I know I said I was going to take a break from stomach vore, and now I will. Seriously. I swear.

I am eager to post up some new Gentleman’s Bestiary creatures, just need to find the hours to polish up the roughs.  Fortunately for me, the new Soul Calibur is a major disappointment, so I will have that time after all.

I… don’t know what to say.  I beat the ‘story’ mode in 2 hours, a one shot path of Patroklos( sp? don’t care?)  that features maybe 5 of the main game’s characters. There’s a custom character maker that feels pretty robust, but without even the most meager of narative to propel my own mythical creation into the lime light, I feel like why bother?  Is it weird that I play this fighting game for a compelling story?  Probably.  But I remember playing SC2 and being immediately absorbed by the depth of the world. I wanted to see each hero win, and it was a painful delight to watch good struggle against good over well-developed misunderstandings.  Partoklosis’ story WAS good. But it was s brief, and the fact that this story excluded so many of the characters that were so important in the past… I dunno.  I feel let down.

As a side note. I am all for bringing in new characters and i don’t even mind if they have move sets that are clones of the originals.  But I need context if I am to give two shits about them.  I hear the little red ninja is Taki’s apprentice. I have no idea where people get this aside from reading marketing information, because it’s certainly not expounded on in the story. Also, weirdly, impact guards( or guard impacts if you prefer) have been all but junked, and the game somehow feels  more 2-d then it used to. And slower. And those magic charge moves are stupid. And they wasted 4 of the ‘special characters’ slots.  I’m sorry if I’m dumping all over this but just… go into it informed if you’re going to purchase it, and take anything I say with a grain of salt knowing I was holding it up to previous entries which in my humble opinion have gotten more silly as time passes.

For the past 7 months or so now I’ve had a lot of trouble with sleep.  I think a part of it is because I need to maintain cat-like readiness in case of a home intruder. The stress at work is not helping either.  I can’t blame this thing entirely on my lack of presence lately, but it’s definitely contributing.  I hope to have some new artwork up this weekend, so  I’ll just sweep this picture under the pile with the rest of the old blog news.  At least the weekends are nice because I can sleep in!

i think this is all but worked out of my system, i was fortunate to have a friend who paid me to ‘go with my gut’ (ba dum TSH!) on this piece, and I’m pleased with the results, hopefully you enjoy as well!   Thanks buddy! there is a lengthy story that accompanies this piece, some contextual background.  My fingers are too numb right now to type it up but I will flesh it out in a reply later if anyone cares.

this week is going to be a busy one at work. I predict I will be putting in extra hours, possibly every day this week.  It sucks.  But whatever.

Next week, Soul Calibur 5 comes out!  So excited!   This might just put me in the mind to do some new SC porn.  Love me that soul edge.  I keep meaning to make my new rates chart but dammit I’m so busy. so stupidly busy.  Even the weekend are busy, catching up on everything I didn’t get to during the week. But soon, I hope, thnigs will begin to return to normal. February looms closer each day, and with it the promise of a rest. ^_^

So while pondering my future employment at work today, my mind drifted off and began to scribble what would become this bizarre image.  I had NO IDEA what to make him say, but then it occoured to me I have access to some of the wittiest peeps and pervs on the web, why not let YOU decide and make it a fun contest!  So I shall! 

Please download the below image ( right clicking SHOULD work for it, i’ll check to make sure) and fill in the blank! I’ll assemble a panel of ultra secret judges of people that I know and you do not, and together we’ll declare a winner on Feb 15.

The Rules:

do anything you want to the image:draw over it, add things, subtract things, REdraw it, make it a motivational poster, etc. But the focus of the contest is the caption, and will be judged accordingly. Just please leave the logo alone ( unless it needs to be scribbled out for the sake of comedy or whatever)

email the image to faustie@faustie.com, and put in the title something like ‘contest’ or ‘submission’ or ‘contest submission’ even.

email up to 3 submissions per person.

Submissions will be accepted up until February 10.  That’s 3 weeks away! i think! It is, I checked!

then you wait, we judge, and maybe you win.

The winner will receive one image from me! Either it will be a girl of your choosing with a monster chosen by me, or a monster of your choosing with a girl chosen by me ^_^. I will design the piece, so all you have to do ( get to do, some might ponder) is provide the who or what, and I’ll go from there!

2nd place will recieve the drawing first place did not pick.

3rd place gets… an… email letting them know how close they were to receiving an actual prize! And maybe a scribble if I feel just terrible about it or have time.

I’ll try to feature a good sampling of the entries on Feb 15 along with the winners as well, depending on how many submissions I receive.  So get cracking! And don’t be one of those ” oh, I’ll never win why bother” types.  because there’s a very good chance you could win. But only if you enter!

Work continues to astound. It’s amazing, AMAZING i say, how much time out of a very important deadline it takes to explain to someone that you need to not be talking, rather working.  Because you’d think that would be it, right?  I’m busy, please leave?   But then that gets passed on to someone else who becomes concerned as to the status of the deadline and they call or email you and want an explanation of things as they stand and how you will solve the problem. Which in turn takes time away from the deadline to explain why things are slipping. So then that gets passed along and omygod snowball.

I’m not being vain or difficult when I say I will have enough time to finish this if you stop asking me when I will have it done.  It simply is that way. And if you’d like to discuss it further, you’ll have to shout over the sound of your schedule rattling as it plummets out of the air.

A while back I wanted to make a prono major Arcana Tarot deck.  I envisioned selling this as an actual thing; a tangible Faustie product I could make and sell to help fund website development costs.  Well, i never got around to it, but I DID finally manage to finish this guy tonight. I had to put it away before  because of some ugly anatomy.  But i think it’s looking much better tonight, and I couldn’t stand the thought of having nothing to show for like a week or so of silence, so here we are.  He’s the ‘Hanging Man’ tarot card, for anyone interested. ^_^

It looks like this week will be more of the same at work, which is to say a whole lot of overwhelming tasks above my pay grade.  But it’s nice to be busy I guess. I sure could use a little r&r tho.  I’m making some animated sprites for a non-adult game involving gladiators.  they are just too cute.  I *need* to get my commission chart up soon, because I need to do some quick turn around commies in time for Mrs. Faustie’s Birthday!   So I hope to have that up in the next couple days, if not tonight if i get really ambitious.  I will be looking for quick turn around pieces, so nothing involving pages of work, but maybe at a discounted rate for simplicity’s sake.  dunno!
